Mark Zuckerberg wants you to know that AI is going to make everything better. And he’d really prefer if governments didn’t get in the way.
The Meta CEO published a sprawling 6,500-word essay on August 10 titled “The Future is for Everyone: The Path to a Positive AI Future,” laying out his vision for how artificial intelligence should develop, who should control it, and why the answer to that second question is basically “everyone, through Meta’s open-weight models.”
Three pillars and a billion dollars
The manifesto rests on three core ideas: individual empowerment, invention as a primary function of superintelligence, and a careful balance of power to prevent any single entity from hoarding AI’s benefits.
The central argument is that “personal superintelligence,” delivered through open-weight AI models, will generate economic growth and create jobs rather than destroy them. Zuckerberg frames this as a direct counter to voices calling for tighter regulation and centralized oversight of AI development.
