Authorities detain undocumented workers during a coordinated inspection aimed at curbing labour exploitation.

South African authorities are intensifying multidisciplinary high-impact blitz inspections to combat labour exploitation and ensure legal compliance.

However, a labour expresses caution regarding their long-term effectiveness of these operations, citing concerns about resources and strategy.

These developments follow a recent media briefing, during which National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) chairperson Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili said that the government is consistently applying a whole-of-government strategy, to enforce the law.

“Departments are working together to address illegal employment, labour exploitation, undocumented migration and other forms of non-compliance,” Mosikili said.
