The Federal Fire Service (FFS) has extinguished a fire involving a petroleum tanker laden with about 60,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at AYM Shafa Filling Station in Area 3, Garki, Abuja.
The incident occurred while the tanker was discharging its petroleum product at the filling station, located beside the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) office along Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti Way.
The fire also affected part of an adjoining three-storey building belonging to the FCT-IRS before firefighters deployed coordinated emergency response operations to bring the situation under control.
The FFS, in a statement issued by Paul Abraham, spokesperson, Deputy Controller of Fire (DCF) , said four adult males sustained various degrees of injuries in the incident.
According to the Service, the injured persons were immediately evacuated from the scene by an ambulance operated by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
