ABUJA – Four persons sustained injuries on Thursday night after a petroleum tanker caught fire while discharging products at AYM Shafa Filling Station, beside the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) office along Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti Way, Area 3, Garki, Abuja.
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) confirmed that the incident involved a tanker carrying about 60,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
In a statement issued on Friday, the National Public Relations Officer and Head of Corporate Services, FFS Headquarters, DCF Paul Abraham, said the fire had been successfully extinguished following a coordinated emergency response operation.
He said the inferno affected part of the adjoining three-storey FCT-IRS building before firefighters contained it using multiple firefighting appliances, medium water jets and foam compound.
