The Greek Community of Melbourne will highlight the history and legacy of Greek Australians who served in the Australian Military Forces in World War Two.
The in-person lecture, part of the GCM’s Greek History and Culture Seminars, will be held on 20 August at 7 p.m. at The Greek Centre.
It will be delivered by Alistair Gillard, a third-generation Greek Australian with roots in the island of Kastellorizo, who has been an avid reader and student of military history over the past 60 years, diaspora outlet Neos Kosmos reported.
The talk will focus on the legacy of Greek Australians in the Australian military and its impact on the evolving multi-ethnic nature of Australian society.
The speaker, an economist at Monash University and financial consultant, has published a website documenting Greek Australians who enlisted in the Australian armed forces. The site can be found here.
