Rookmoney “Kantha” Munsami was honoured with an unsung heroes award.
FOR nearly 40 years, Rookmoney “Kantha” Munsami, a Sai devotee, has quietly dedicated her life to serving others. Through her commitment to community upliftment and humanitarian work, the 82-year-old Phoenix resident has touched countless lives, earning recognition as one of 51 individuals featured in the book, The Unsung Heroes – Volume Four.
As South Africa commemorates Women's Month, the POST spoke to Munsami about her lifelong journey of compassion, faith and service.
Munsami, the youngest of 11 children, was born in the Magazine Barracks in Durban to parents Dorasamy and Chinnakannum Moodley.
Her dad hailed from Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, India, and arrived in South Africa aboard a ship transporting indentured labourers.
