MANILA, Philippines — The P60-billion worth of flood control projects in Cebu should have controlled the flooding in the province, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said on Monday.
Remulla made the remark as he, along with Office of the Ombudsman investigators, visited the Mananga River flood control project in Barangay Lawaan II in Talisay City.
“We looked at the projects of flood control here in Cebu. and from our understanding, for the past six years, P60 billion has been poured into Cebu,” Remulla said in a press conference after the inspection.
“That should be a lot of money to control the flooding,” Remulla said. “But apparently, the past month, flooding happened again here in Cebu. So we have to look at what’s happening.”
