A punk beauty anthem rang throughout Golden Gate Park over the weekend, where artists and music fans flocked to Outside Lands 2026, with major headliners Charli XCX, The Strokes and Rüfüs Du Sol performing alongside GloRilla, Audrey Hobert and more.
Charli XCX took the main stage on Friday night, donning a charcoal smoky eye and wide waves that moved down the back of her all-black ensemble. Meanwhile, Hobert — the artist behind the hit song, “Sue Me,” featured in the Amazon Prime series, “Off Campus” — embraced a warmer version of the dark shadow and paired it with a blood red lip. María Zardoya of Not for Radio similarly kept her makeup light but donned a moody hair aesthetic with micro bangs.

Held in the city where punk music first pulsed, it’s no wonder the festival hair and makeup was served with a side of attitude and prowess, mostly in the form of sharp liner, hollowed eyes and color-drenched hair. However, the overall beauty tone seemed to indicate a wider taking to grunge and “indie sleaze,” potentially rendering the “clean girl” reign complete.
