Sudden rainfall brings relief to Vizag; water woes likely to ease

The city of Visakhapatnam witnessed a sudden spell of evening rain on Monday, catching evening commuters and motorists off guard, and bringing much-needed relief from the water scarcity affecting parts of the region.Two-wheeler riders and auto-rickshaw drivers battled gusty winds and low visibility, and were seen taking shelter beneath flyovers and at junctions before resuming their journeys through the rain to reach their destinations. Traffic moved slowly along several major arterial roads.According to government-run real-time weather data agencies, Anandapuram in Visakhapatnam north recorded the highest rainfall at 47.5 mm. Gambheeram ARG followed closely at 24.5 mm, RK Beach at 22.85 mm, and Dwarakanagar (common point) at 22.85 mm.
