Residents said street lights went off suddenly amid the heavy showers and thunderstorm activity, making driving conditions more challenging and reducing visibility on roads.Many people were seen taking shelter at bus stops, under shop verandas and other covered places until the rain subsided. Traffic movement was also affected briefly in some busy junctions.Near the airport area, a few small tree branches were found fallen on roads due to strong winds accompanying the rain.
