Napoli has reached out directly to Chelsea to try to hammer out a deal for Benoît Badiashile, the French centre-back who has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge since arriving in early 2023.
The Italian club made fresh contact on Sunday as it looks to bolster its defensive options ahead of the new season.
A deal structure that nobody agrees on
The core issue is straightforward: Napoli wants a loan with an option to buy. Chelsea wants a permanent sale.
Napoli’s proposal has reportedly been built around an estimated €3 million loan fee, with an option to purchase Badiashile outright for a total package valued between €20 million and €23 million. Chelsea, meanwhile, has been pushing for a clean permanent transfer.
