SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava directed field staff to carry out thorough ballast inspections to ensure track stability during heavy rainfall.Particular attention should be paid to newly commissioned bridges, road underbridges (RUBs) and railway lines, which are especially vulnerable during their first monsoon season, he said while reviewing monsoon preparedness with senior officials on Monday.He stressed that strict safety protocols must be followed in all activities related to train operations by both railway personnel and contractors or agencies engaged by the Railways. Even minor deficiencies or inconveniences should be reported immediately so that corrective measures can be taken without delay.According to a press release, preventive measures such as trenching and barricading should be undertaken at vulnerable locations to safeguard train operations. Mr. Srivastava also called for awareness programmes to educate villagers about the risks of cattle run-over incidents, particularly along sensitive stretches of railway tracks.
