The presenter is starring in a new travel documentary with his father Roman Kemp16:16, 10 Aug 2026Roman Kemp will be back on our screens this evening. The presenter, 33, will star alongside his famous dad Martin Kemp in a new Channel 4 travel documentary.Martin and Roman's Irish Road Trip will see the father-son duo travel around Ireland in search of landscape, mystery, and legend with plenty of "bants and bonding" along the way.The famous pair have been on screens together before, becoming firm favourites on the celebrity spin-off of Channel 4's Gogglebox, and on ITV's chat show Martin and Roman's Sunday Best.Roman has become well-known in the world of television and radio. He kick-started his career at Capital FM before working his way up to becoming the face of the breakfast radio programme. In 2019, he starred in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and finished in third place, with Andy Whymant coming in second and Jacqueline Jossa crowned Queen of the Jungle.Roman has gone on to host many shows, including the Brit Awards and takes part in the annual Soccer Aid. In 2023, Roman permanently joined BBC One's The One Show as a presenter.Meanwhile, Roman's dad, Martin, needs little introduction; he was the bass player in the hugely popular 1980s group Spandeau Ballet, alongside Tony Hadley, Gary Kemp, Steve Norman and John Keeble. They were known for hits such as True, Gold, and Through the Barricades. After achieving success in the music industry, Martin transitioned into acting. He is best known for his role as Steve Owen on the BBC soap EastEnders, which he played from 1998 to 2002, and for the film The Krays, in which he played one of the notorious Kray twins, alongside his brother Gary Kemp.Roman's mum, Shirlie Holliman, has an equally impressive resume, having begun her career as one of the original backing dancers in Wham! in the early 1980s.The pop icon later became one half of the duo Pepsi & Shirlie along with Helen DeMacque. Hilariously, Martin and Shirlie participated in The Masked Singer in 2023, hiding under the aliases Cat and Mouse.Following her time as an honorary member of Wham!, Shirlie remained close friends with the late George Michael, who introduced her to her now husband, and became Roman's godfather when he was born in 1993.Speaking on Smooth Radio in 2019, Roman told how George was more like an "uncle" to him. He told Kate Garraway at the time: "He was an amazing guy. He was my uncle. You'd see him at dinners, Christmas, the lot. It is really nice that all the memories I have are so nice, going on holidays, and having my parents compete with Christmas presents."One year, I must have been four or five and my dad bought me a bike, a Raleigh bike. I remember George came round to the house and brought in my present and he'd gone to Harrods and bought one of those electric cars but not just that, it was a Batmobile. I've still got it."Memories like that, they're so nice to have but it's strange because for me it was just my mum's best mate."Roman has also appeared on screens with his older sister, Harleymoon Kemp. The pair appeared on season three of BBC's Celebrity Race Across The World. The siblings ended up winning the contest after they raced 5,900km across the undiscovered Caribbean and Pacific coast of Central America.Reflecting on winning the show with her brother at the time, Harleymoon said: "Me and Roman were on buses for 24 hours together, and we were just cool and I think, wow, spending that much time together and getting on as best mates and then winning it. That's so cool, so special."Asked what his colleagues had thought of him being on the race. Roman said: "The one thing for me that stands out is everyone talking about how they love Harley, and they love seeing my sister. I think that's what's been so refreshing for me. I don't really like it when people are just talking about me - that's why it's a nice thing when people talk to me about my dad and my mum, but no one ever really spoke to me about Harley because they didn't know her. So that's been definitely the number one nicest thing."Harleymoon, who has also appeared on Mastermind, is a singer and songwriter and recently shared the stage with Ronan Keating on Radio 2 in the Park.Article continues belowMartin and Roman's Irish Road Trip starts on Monday, August 10 at 8pm on Channel 4.
