State Street Corporation just placed another large bet on Strategy Inc., the company formerly known as MicroStrategy that has essentially become a publicly traded Bitcoin vault. The firm added 506,635 shares to its existing position, bringing its total MSTR holdings to 7.52 million shares worth approximately $758 million.
That’s a 7% increase from State Street’s previous position of roughly 7.02 million shares reported as of March 31, 2026.
The Bitcoin proxy trade keeps getting bigger
State Street didn’t buy any Bitcoin directly. It didn’t touch a single token or interact with a blockchain. What it did was buy more equity in a company that has turned itself into the single largest corporate holder of Bitcoin on the planet.
Strategy Inc. holds approximately 843,775 Bitcoin as of late July 2026, acquired at a total cost basis of around $63.69 billion. Think of MSTR as a wrapper: investors get exposure to Bitcoin’s price movements through a regulated, publicly traded security that fits neatly into existing portfolio infrastructure.
