At just 19, Mpho Katiso may not be ready to challenge heavyweight stars like Glenrose Xaba and Tayla Kavanagh just yet, but the Absa Run Your City Tshwane 10K on August 23 offers the teenager an ideal platform to test her mettle against the nation’s elite.
“I have never competed in any of the Absa Run Your City Series races before,” Katiso shared. “I’d love to be there to experience the immense energy of a major event on a fast course, and I’m really looking forward to testing myself against top-tier runners.”
Currently enrolled at the Tshwane University of Technology, Katiso has stepped up her preparation by joining a high-profile training group led by coaches Violet and Caster Semenya.
Among her powerhouse teammates is national record holder Xaba, who has taken the rising star under her wing during heavy training blocks.
