The strikes caused substantial damage, disabling equipment and forcing the operations at the affected assets to halt. Security measures ensured that no personnel were injured during the attack. Acting Naftogaz Group CEO Sergii Fedorenko stated that the recent escalation in attacks is a calculated effort to disrupt the country’s preparations for the upcoming winter. “In recent days, the intensity of enemy attacks on the oil and gas infrastructure has significantly increased. It is obvious that the enemy’s goal is to inflict maximum damage on Ukrainian production and other critical infrastructure to make it impossible to prepare for the heating season,” Fedorenko said. “Our priority is to save people’s lives and continue working, even in such difficult circumstances.” Attacks on filling stations and production The Aug. 9 bombardment followed a series of drone strikes on Aug.7 and 8 that targeted seven Ukrnafta filling stations in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions. The strikes caused damage, and one employee was injured in the attacks; he is currently receiving medical care in a hospital.
