Medicines will be administered to 1,72,960 children and adolescents in the age group of one to 19 and 45,034 women (except pregnant and lactating women) as part of the National Deworming Day programme in Perambalur district from August 10 to 17.District Collector Sharanya Ari, in a press release, said Albandezole (deworming) tablets will be distributed to the target groups under the auspices of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Children aged 1 to 5 will receive their medicine in anganwadis, while those aged six to 19 will be given medication in schools and colleges. Children who are not in school would be attended to by village health nurses and anganwadi staff, said the announcement.Children will be given orientation on personal hygiene as part of the programme.
