Arsenal has landed one of the Premier League’s most coveted midfielders. Bruno Guimaraes is heading to north London after the Gunners agreed to pay Newcastle United a guaranteed fee of £75 million, roughly $101 million, for the Brazilian international.
The deal, confirmed around August 5, 2026, ends weeks of back-and-forth negotiations between the two clubs. Arsenal initially came in with offers in the £60-70 million range, Newcastle wanted at least £80 million, and they eventually settled on £75 million.
How the deal came together
Guimaraes departed Newcastle’s pre-season training camp in Spain to travel to London for a medical. He’s expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract, tying him to Arsenal through the 2030-31 season.
An official announcement is anticipated by August 8, 2026. For a player who served as Newcastle’s club captain, the departure carries weight on both sides of the transaction.
