Arsenal is reportedly closing in on a deal to bring Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United to the Emirates Stadium. As of August 2026, however, there have been no credible links between Arsenal and Guimaraes, and no official agreement or fee has been reported.

Guimaraes’s contract with Newcastle runs through 2028, and previous reports have pegged his release clause at upwards of £100M.

What we know about the deal

Guimaraes joined Newcastle in January 2022 from Lyon for an initial fee of £35 million, quickly establishing himself as one of the most complete midfielders in English football.

A fee north of £100M would place Guimaraes among the most expensive midfield signings in football history. For context, that figure rivals the kind of money that changed hands when Declan Rice moved to Arsenal from West Ham.
