Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Arsenal agreed to a $100M transfer for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Sources told ESPN, The Athletic and Sky Sports about the agreement Wednesday morning. The Newcastle captain was given permission to travel to London for a physical with the Gunners. Guimaraes has two years remaining on his contract.
The veteran midfielder totaled 31 goals and 31 assists over 195 appearances since he joined the Magpies in 2022. He logged nine goals and five assists for the Magpies during their 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
He totaled three goals and seven assists over 71 appearances at French Ligue 1 club Lyon from 2019-20 through 2021-22. The 28-year-old made his senior team debut in 2015 at Audax, a fifth-tier Brazilian club. He went on to play for Athletico Paranaense of Brazil's Serie A.
