Audi A3 electrical faults spark two-year legal battle for KZN woman.

A KwaZulu-Natal woman has been embroiled in a two-year legal battle with a dealership after her brand-new Audi A3 developed an electrical fault just six months after she took delivery of the vehicle.

The dispute eventually reached the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Durban, where Judge ME Nkosi went through the circumstances surrounding the woman's decision to withdraw her application seeking a refund for a faulty vehicle.

Although the court did not ultimately order the dealership to refund the woman or award her legal costs, the judgment criticised aspects of the dealership's handling of the matter, including its refusal to provide her with assessment reports concerning the alleged water damage.

The judgment was recently delivered in a matter involving McCarthy (Pty) Ltd trading as Bidvest Audi Centre Wonderboom and MN.
