The Cape Town Container Terminal showed a 16% increase in volume-throughput in the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year compared with the same period last year, says Transnet Port Terminals (TPT).
Average truck turnaround time now stands at 39.9 minutes, with year-to-date truck turnaround times improving by 35% compared with the same period last year.
Rail performance recorded an 82% increase compared with the same period last year.
Average vessel waiting time improved from 115 hours during the same period in 2025, to 44.3 hours, reports TPT.
Cape Town Container Terminal manager Noxolo Thabatha says the recent gains reflect the impact of increased focus on equipment reliability, operational planning and teamwork.
