MLC C.T. Ravi said the Tiranga Yatra is being organised to awaken patriotic fervour among the countrymen and prepare us to fight against forces that continue to divide the country on caste, community and regionalism lines.Speaking at the conclusion of Tiranga Yatra organised by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Puttur on Friday, Mr. Ravi said this year it will be the 80th Independence day that the nation will be celebrating. India is a young nation, and there were still forces that are active to divide the nation on caste, community, regionalism and on corruption. Countrymen should be aware of these secessionist forces and nib at the bud the efforts to weaken the country. “The heads of such terrorists should be cut,” he said and specified that he was not talking about any individuals.The country got freedom from the British not just for non-violent struggle, but also because of sacrifices of many revolutionalists. The countrymen should strive to uphold patriotic values. Mr. Ravi said when somebody hesitates to sing national song Vande Mataram, then question raises about his or her patriotism. The MLC said Centre is bringing amendment to Foreign Contribution Regulation Act to make organisations accountable for the contribution they get from foreign countries. Countrymen have to look with suspicion the intention of forces that are opposing FRCA Amendment Bill, he said.MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta said it is the pride for the tricolour that 527 soliders laid down their lives during the Kargil war. Medal winning Indian athletes were in tears to see the flag fly high during the recently held Commonwealth Games. Thanking people of Puttur for coming out in large numbers for the Yatra, the MP called upon people to fly the national flag atop houses in the period between August 13 and 15. Countrymen should unitedly work to realise the dream of Viksit Bharat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by 2047.Dakshina Kannada District BJP President Satish Kumpala and Former Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor also spoke. Mangaluru City MLAs D. Vedavyas Kamath and Y. Bharath Shetty, Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya, Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja and MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur took part in the programme.
