The Hassan police, on Thursday, found the body of a woman who had been missing since July 31, buried in an agricultural field at Kesagodu in Belur taluk. The police suspect that Gagana, 29, was murdered by her husband, Raghu.The couple ran a bakery in Chikkamagaluru. Gagana went missing on the night of July 31. The next day, August 1, Raghu was found hanging in an open area. Videos of Raghu circulating on social media showed him claiming that he had killed his wife before ending his life. However, her body could not be traced at the time.Meanwhile, Gagana’s family members had filed a missing person complaint at the Basavanahalli Police Station in Chikkamagaluru.After four to five days of effort, the police traced Gagana’s body buried in the same land where Raghu was found dead. The body was exhumed in the presence of senior officers on Thursday.Hassan Superintendent of Police Shubhawita told the media that a team of Hassan police, working with Chikkamagaluru officials, spent four to five days using available technical details to trace Gagana, whose body was eventually found buried in the field.“The post-mortem has been conducted, and the cause of death will be known soon.
