Bought a handloom product and curious about the hands that wove it? In Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, the answer could now be just a QR scan away.The district administration has introduced a QR code-based authentication system for handloom products that will allow consumers to access details about the individual weaver behind a product. The initiative is aimed at establishing the authenticity of handloom products while giving individual weavers greater recognition and visibility.The system, developed by Jupitex AI, was unveiled during the National Handloom Day 2026 celebrations in Bhongir on Friday.Scanning the QR code will take consumers beyond simply identifying a handloom product. They will be able to see details, including the weaver’s name and address, geo-tag number and information about the warp and weft used to make the product. The QR code initiative was one of several measures announced for the handloom sector during the celebrations.
