The National Consumer Commission has announced the recall of certain Mercedes-Benz trucks and Alfa Romeo Tonale
The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has announced the recall of certain Mercedes-Benz trucks and Alfa Romeo Tonale vehicles after safety concerns were identified that could pose risks to motorists.
According to the consumer watchdog spokesperson Phetho Ntaba, , Daimler Truck Southern Africa Limited has recalled 153 Mercedes-Benz trucks due to a potential defect in steering components that could affect the vehicle’s ability to steer safely.
The trucks were sold nationwide from 2022 onwards and include Mercedes-Benz Atego, Actros, Arocs and eActros models.
The recall follows the discovery that some steering components may not have undergone the required hardening process during manufacturing, which could result in increased wear and, in some cases, a loss of steering control.
