Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has said Bode George, former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Deputy National Chairman, lacks the moral authority to speak on corruption.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja , Olayinka criticised the PDP chieftain over his recent comments against Wike, describing George’s public attacks as unbecoming of an elder statesman.
He said George, a former military governor of the old Ondo State, should “take a rest” from active political exchanges and conduct himself with greater restraint.
According to Olayinka, George has failed to make a significant political impact for the PDP in Lagos State despite playing a leading role in the party for more than two decades.
“Since 1999, he has not won his polling unit for the PDP,” Olayinka claimed, adding that while the party has produced governors in states such as Oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ondo and Ekiti, it has remained unsuccessful in Lagos.
