Vaal University of Technology's (VUT) employees could be in trouble after the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and the university's internal ethics and fraud unit confirmed that they are looking into the alleged insourcing sabotage.
Some officials of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) could soon find themselves in trouble as the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and the university’s ethics and fraud unit are probing allegations of sabotaging the process of insourcing security employees in order to continue with tendering security services.
The SIU, which was mandated to investigate allegations of maladministration, corruption and procurement irregularities at VUT in 2024, said the sabotage of the insourcing process formed part of its investigation.
On the other side, it has been revealed that the internal ethics and fraud unit is assessing the VUT’s alleged failure to honour its agreement.
This was after VUT in 2016 entered into an agreement with labour unions to insource security guards and cleaners working under external contractors and absorb them as direct internal staff.
