At least seven people, including the gunman, were killed and 15 others were injured after a student opened fire at a school in Thailand on Friday.Videos from the scene showed students ducking under their desks as gunshots could be heard in the background.The incident took place in the Bang Kruai district of Nonthaburi province, north of Bangkok.

Police identified the shooter as a student.Lt Col Dechrapee Kongdee, commander of the Nonthaburi Provincial Police, confirmed the casualties to Reuters and said the suspected gunman had died by suicide.

He said those injured included one teacher and three students.An 18-year-old student said he initially mistook the sound of gunfire for firecrackers going off or someone banging an object."I didn't think ⁠it was a gun at first," he was quoted as saying by Reuters.
