At least six people died as Tropical Depression Maymay (international name: Kujira) dumped heavy rains and triggered landslides as it crossed northern Luzon on Thursday, reports from the Philippine National Police and local disaster response units showed.

In a press briefing in Camp Crame, Col. Allen Rae Co, PNP public information chief, said that rockfall in Rodriguez, Rizal, left two siblings—a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman—dead. The incident happened past noon on Wednesday in Barangay San Rafael amid heavy rains.

Co said two drowning incidents were also reported to the PNP—one involving a 45-year-old man in Luna, La Union, and another involving a 54-year-old man in Alaminos City in Pangasinan.

The onslaught through the Cordillera mountains by Maymay and prolonged rains have left two dead in Benguet province on Thursday.
