He added that the commission was still within the statutory period to either obtain a court order extending the restriction or lift it.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims that it froze all bank accounts belonging to the Osun State Government, insisting that it only placed a temporary restriction on one statutory account over suspected suspicious financial transactions.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Thursday, the EFCC's Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwujaren, said the anti-graft agency imposed a targeted restriction on a single statutory account to preserve funds pending the outcome of its investigation.
"We didn't freeze all the state government accounts. We only targeted one statutory account, which is restricted. It is a temporary restriction on that account," he said.
"And then it does not stop the government from operating all the accounts that they have. It's only one account that is frozen for now.
