Thando Ngwenya of Amazulu will be key to his team's hopes in the MTN8 quarter-final against Sekhukhune United on Suday.

AmaZulu striker Thando Ngwenya believes his opening-day goal against Stellenbosch last weekend has given him the confidence boost he needed after battling back from a long-term injury.

Ngwenya marked his return with the winner in Usuthu's 1-0 Betway Premiership victory and is now hoping to build on that momentum when AmaZulu host Sekhukhune United in Sunday's MTN8 quarter-final at Chatsworth Stadium.

"It brought confidence because coming from injury it's not easy," Ngwenya said at the club's media open day at Kings Park Stadium earlier in the week. "Your confidence goes down. Now I'm just hoping for the best."

The forward revealed he had been sidelined by a fracture, admitting the road back had been physically demanding.
