COTABATO CITY — Five members of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Hassan Group were killed during a joint police and military operation to serve arrest warrants in Pikit, Cotabato province, on Thursday, Aug. 6.
The fatalities included the top three most wanted persons in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Col. Michael John Mangahis, director of the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office, identified those killed as Marhum Esmael, also known as “Marhom,” the alleged leader of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Hassan Group and the No. 1 most wanted person in BARMM; Halim Sansawi Usman, the region’s second most wanted; Ali Hassan, the third most wanted person in Maguindanao del Sur; Rasul Tito; and Baby Ayunan Camsa.
Mangahis said Esmael, Usman, and Hassan were facing multiple charges of murder, frustrated murder, attempted murder, and robbery.
