BACOLOD CITY — Police seized P14.6 million worth of suspected illegal cigarettes during an anti-smuggling operation in Purok Narra, Barangay Malingin, Bago City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday, Aug. 6.
Authorities arrested a laborer identified as alias “Kev,” 32, of Zamboanga City, while two unidentified male suspects escaped by jumping over a perimeter fence and remain at large.
The operation stemmed from a checkpoint in Barangay Lag-asan, where Bago City police flagged down a white Isuzu aluminum van following intelligence reports about the distribution of untaxed tobacco.
