Ajax has officially approached Barcelona about signing Roony Bardghji, the 20-year-old Swedish winger who has struggled to crack Hansi Flick’s first-team rotation since arriving at Camp Nou just over a year ago. The inquiry, made on August 6, adds the Dutch club to a growing list of suitors circling a player Barcelona seems increasingly willing to let go.
Barcelona is reportedly open to either a loan or a permanent transfer, though the club’s preference leans toward a full sale. Any deal would likely include buy-back or sell-on clauses.
Barcelona has received more than ten inquiries or offers for Bardghji this summer. Ajax isn’t the only club at the door. Juventus, Marseille, and several Premier League sides, including Sunderland and Leeds, have all expressed interest.
Bardghji joined Barcelona from FC Copenhagen for approximately €2.5 million in July 2025. His contract runs through June 30, 2029, with around €3.12 million in remaining gross salary on the books. Under Flick, Bardghji has been limited to only a handful of first-team appearances.
Ajax’s sporting director Jordi Cruyff brings a direct connection to Barcelona’s ecosystem. Cruyff, son of the legendary Johan, has the relationships to facilitate a deal that works for everyone involved.
