FC Barcelona’s quest to find a reliable understudy for Lamine Yamal has landed on Roony Bardghji. But here’s the twist: the club is also willing to let him go if someone writes a big enough check.
Hansi Flick is reportedly assessing his squad options for the right wing position ahead of the 2026/27 season. Bardghji, the 20-year-old Swede who arrived from FC Copenhagen just last summer, is being evaluated as the primary backup for Yamal. At the same time, Barcelona is reportedly open to selling him for around €10 million, a tidy return on the roughly €2 million base fee they paid to sign him.
The Bardghji situation
Roony Bardghji’s time at Barcelona has been, to put it generously, quiet. The forward signed a four-year contract on July 14, 2025, arriving from FC Copenhagen as one of Scandinavia’s more promising young talents. Born on November 15, 2005, he was still a teenager when he made the move to Catalonia.
Lamine Yamal is the undisputed starter on Barcelona’s right wing, and that reality has left Bardghji picking up appearances mostly when Yamal has been unavailable. One such window opened in April 2026 when Yamal dealt with an injury, giving Bardghji a brief taste of first-team action.
