Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) on Thursday, Aug. 6, charged former Deputy Prime Minister and former Justice Minister Olha Stefanishyna with illicit enrichment and filing false asset declarations. Investigators allege undeclared apartments and luxury car According to NABU, the investigation found that Stefanishyna allegedly owned two apartments in Kyiv’s Faina Town residential complex worth nearly Hr.11 million ($264,000) that were registered in a friend’s name. Investigators also allege she used other assets registered to close associates, including an apartment in Kyiv’s Lvivska Ploshcha residential complex registered to her mother, parking spaces and commercial premises registered to her father, and a Mercedes-Benz GLC 220 d registered to one of her subordinates. NABU said the assets were not included in her asset declarations. House purchase under investigation Investigators also allege Stefanishyna negotiated the purchase of a house near Kyiv valued at approximately $550,000. According to NABU, the proposed deal involved a $250,000 cash payment, with the remaining amount to be covered through the transfer of the two Faina Town apartments. The bureau said the transaction was ultimately not completed, allegedly because of Stefanishyna’s appointment to a diplomatic post abroad.
