Prosecutors have asked the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) to impose bail of UAH 15.312 million on Olga Stefanishyna, Ukraine's former ambassador to the United States.
According to hromadske, the prosecution initially mentioned a lower bail amount of UAH 13.1 million while speaking to journalists, but requested UAH 15.312 million during the court hearing, Ukrinform reports.
The prosecutor argued that Stefanishyna poses a flight risk, noting that she has held senior government positions and, during her tenure as ambassador to the United States, established contacts that could allegedly help her evade justice.
The prosecution also said she holds several foreign and diplomatic passports and is able to cross Ukraine's border freely.
According to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) prosecutor Vitalii Rybalkin told reporters during a recess that Stefanishyna has been notified of suspicion on three counts: illicit enrichment and two counts of filing false asset declarations.
