Former Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and ex-Ambassador to the United States Olha Stefanishyna has received a new notice of suspicion from Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities, Ukrainian media reported on Wednesday. The exact nature of the allegations has not been publicly disclosed by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) or the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). Stefanishyna’s lawyers requested that the court hearing be held behind closed doors, the report said. The development comes shortly after President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Stefanishyna as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States on Aug. 3. Stefanishyna said she had decided to step down herself, adding that the main tasks she had been assigned in Washington had been completed. Previous investigation The new suspicion appears linked to an investigation opened by SAPO in July 2025 following a report by Ukrainian outlet Ukrainska Pravda. At the time, prosecutors launched proceedings over possible abuses by Stefanishyna but did not issue any notices of suspicion. Lawmaker Oleksii Honcharenko said the investigation concerned possible abuse of office that allegedly “caused serious consequences” under Article 364 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code.
