For Sumeshen Moodley, being appointed Head Physiotherapist of Durban City Football Club is far more than another professional milestone. It is the culmination of nearly two decades of dedication to helping athletes perform at their best and recover stronger from injury.
The 43-year-old physiotherapist, who grew up in Merebank and now practices in Morningside and Ballito, joined the professional football club after being approached by the club's General Manager. He was introduced to the squad ahead of the new season, placing him at the centre of one of KwaZulu-Natal's most ambitious football projects.
Moodley joins a club that has made a considerable name for itself in a short space of time. The Chatsworth-based outfit won the Nedbank Cup title in their debut top-flight season in the Betway Premiership, a remarkable achievement for a newly promoted side. That victory earned them a place in the CAF Confederations Cup, and they enter the new season with momentum and the prospect of competing on the African continent for the first time in their history.
