The anonymous developer behind a proposal to build a data center in the city of Brownsville, Texas, has withdrawn their proposal.

A request for a Special Use Permit at 7480 Padre Island Highway was set to be considered at a Planning and Zoning meeting on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

This address corresponds to a facility formerly operated by Southwest Key, a Texas-based shelter facility provider for immigrant youths.

But the City of Brownsville said on July 29 that the item had been withdrawn by the applicant. The identity of the applicant and the reason for the withdrawal were not provided.
