Five cheetahs have been fitted with tracking collars in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park
A major cheetah conservation operation in KwaZulu-Natal has seen five more cheetahs fitted with tracking collars in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, strengthening long-term monitoring of one of South Africa's most significant wild populations.
The eight-day operation, carried out in late July by Wildlife ACT and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, with support from Forever Wild Foundation, increases the number of cheetahs collared in the park to eight since the monitoring programme began at the end of 2025.
Three of the five animals were fitted with collars for the first time.
The operation relied on multiple ground teams supported by drones, a fixed-wing aircraft and a helicopter supplied by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.
