The former Celebrity Big Brother star left social media users concerned for his welfare.‌Police responded after "multiple" emergency calls over concerns for his welfare. Clips of the livestream, which the Mirror is choosing not to show, saw Perez covered in blood while brandishing a knife.‌A statement on his website this evening delivered "An Update From Perez Hilton Team & Family". It read: "Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers.‌"We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being.‌"We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time. If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can."It concluded: "Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support."In the livestream, Perez, 48, also appeared to be naked, which is a violation of TikTok's policy around nudity. He was live on the video-sharing app for 30 minutes before his account was suspended. Hilton was transported to a local hospital for treatment.‌While local police were alerted to the situation via "multiple" calls, they decided not to confront Hilton immediately. Instead, they used crisis intervention techniques in order to attempt to de-escalate the situation. Licensed Mental Health Professionals stayed at the scene and were "providing support and resources to the individual's family."In a statement, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's office said: "In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication."Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilising crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimise the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public."‌In a statement to TMZ, Perez's spokesperson said: "We are aware of the concerning content circulating online involving our client, Perez Hilton."At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez's health and well-being, as well as his family's well-being. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further.
