A flimsy leash or a clasp that's hard to secure can fail at exactly the moment a dog decides to bolt after something exciting. Climbing rope, flat nylon and retractable designs all handle control, comfort and durability differently, and price doesn't always predict which leash a dog and owner will actually enjoy using.
