Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday inaugurated projects completed at a cost of ₹90.91 crore in the Nilgiris through a video-conference call.The projects, undertaken by the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, included drinking water improvement under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme in Kotagiri Municipality and 164 new apartments in Naduhatty as well as 152 apartments in Cherangode built by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. The houses were built at a cost of ₹22.16 crore and ₹18.92 crore respectively, the district administration said.The Chief Minister also inaugurated a new centre of excellence building at the Government Polytechnic College in Udhagamandalam, which was built at a cost of ₹7.14 crore.“Together, these four completed projects, costing ₹90.91 crore, were inaugurated by the Chief Minister through videoconferencing,” the district administration said, adding that following the inauguration, District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru inspected the new houses in Naduhatty near Kotagiri, where an event was held to mark the inauguration of the projects.On Wednesday, the District Collector visited the tribal hamlet of Muthanadu Mund in Hullathi village panchayat and inspected the construction of 11 houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Janmam Scheme at a cost of ₹5.73 lakh per house. She also visited the local village panchayat office and reviewed the functioning of various public welfare schemes implemented in the village.
