Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday announced a series of support measures for victims of recent wildfires in western Attica and Viotia, including affected households, businesses and farmers.
The announcement followed an interministerial meeting at the Maximos Mansion that focused on speeding up state aid procedures, damage assessments and compensation payments for those affected by the fires.
Mitsotakis said that, when Parliament reconvenes, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection will submit legislation aimed at accelerating and digitizing procedures for damage declarations and compensation payments for wildfire victims and affected businesses.
The measures include a three-month suspension of employment contracts for workers at affected businesses, with state support payments of 534 euros per month; a six-month suspension and regulation of social security contributions and tax obligations for affected households and businesses; and a 12-month suspension of foreclosures.
