As AI-driven RAM shortages drive up Apple prices across South Africa, the 13-inch M3 iPad Air holds steady at R14,999, offering unbeatable value against the rest of the lineup. Picture: Michael Sherman/IOL

Driven by industry-wide RAM shortages from the AI boom, Apple’s latest price hikes have seen the cost of nearly every Mac and iPad skyrocket—except for one device that might now be the best-value product the tech giant offers in South Africa.

If you haven’t guessed already, I’m talking about the 13” M3 iPad Air.

Fortunately for local consumers, the price of this tablet has remained rock-solid at R14,999.

For comparison, the base 13” M5 MacBook Air shot up from R19,999 to R26,499—a massive R6,500 increase for the exact same machine.
