A US-based Greek actress and singer on Tuesday became the latest in a number of people to leave rail safety activist Maria Karystianou’s new right-of-center Hope for Democracy party.

Katerina Moutsatsou, who gained online attention with a 2012 patriotic video on Greece’s financial crisis, did not expand on why she was leaving the party launched May 21.

Hope for Democracy has seen its support drop in recent opinion polls, while Karystianou alienated many with comments that steered close to right-wing populism.

Moutsatsou, who was a member of the party’s culture department, said it had been an honor to participate in the effort.

Another two Hope for Democracy officials resigned Tuesday, one accusing the party of a lack of respect for democratic processes. The party’s press spokesman also stepped down last week.
