The spokesman for rail safety activist Maria Karystianou’s new right-of-center party said Wednesday he can no longer speak for Hope for Democracy.
In a critical social media post, journalist Paraskevas Avgerinos said that the party has acquired a “parallel press office” whose composition he does not know.
“The suspicious and appointed ‘consultants’ of the corridors are always a problem for any collective grouping, much more so for an Independent Citizens’ Movement, which aspires to intervene drastically to create the requisite conditions and alternatives so that citizens may finally come to power and our democracy may function,” he added. “For the time being, I choose to go on holiday for some days.”
Opinion polls show the party to be Greece’s sixth most popular.
