File photo: Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke

The Osun State Government has dismissed an advertorial published in one of the national dailies (not The PUNCH) depicting a failed road and attributing it to the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing the publication as “fake news.”

The government said the road featured in the front page publication was constructed during the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and is located at Mukoro in Ile-Ife, contrary to claims that it is in Modakeke and was built by the current administration.

The publication, which carried pictures of bad roads and waste in Modakeke, bore the caption, “The face of bad governance; the dancer was a mistake. Osun people, let’s remove the round peg from the square hole”, sponsored by New Hope for the Weak Foundation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Works, Bashiru Bello, the government said it had attached the Global Positioning System coordinates of the road to enable members of the public verify its location through Google Maps.
